Journey

Plane – 4 Croatia Airlines planes fly to / from Zagreb times a day (1 time., 93 $).

Bus – Tickets with reserved seats must be purchased in advance. The shuttle buses depart from the main bus station (next to the port) to Zadar (158 km, 25 daily), Zagreb (478 km, 26 daily), Rivers (404 km, 11 daily), Popular (532 km, 1 daily), Puli (514 km, 2 daily) and Rovinj (509 km, 1 daily). Buses run from Split to Meojugorje to Bosnia and Herzegovina (156 km), Mostar (179 km) and Sarajevo (271 km). Croatia Express buses travel to Zagreb at night (14 $) – the company's office is located next to the bus station.

Bus #37, running to Solin, to the airport in Split and to Trogirr, departs from the local bus station at Domovinskog, 1 km northeast of the city center.

Lenhard Tours buses (office next to the bus station) run to Amsterdam (1 in the week, 140 $), Munich (912 km, 1 daily, 69 $) and many other German cities. Many buses from Agenciji Touring at the bus station also go to Germany.

To / from Dubrovnik 10 buses, that run between Split and Dubrovnik (235 km), passes through the small resort town of Neum. You can see here clear traces of the war that took place not so long ago in the form of burned down Muslim houses, although the hotels remained intact. Neum is situated in the territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina, so you go through border control here. Theoretically, you will need a visa to cross the territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina, but tourists (including from Poland) passersby reported, that in practice there is no control.

Railway Railway line from Split to Zagreb, interrupted during the fighting, has been restarted (1 train a day, 9 time., 14 $). Two trains a day run between Split and Šibenik (74 km) and other towns on the Dalmatian coast.

Ferries Agency fadrolinija (tel.355673) has an office in a large marina opposite the bus station and deals with ferry connections to the town of Stari Grad on the island of Hvar (10 $, 3-4 times a week all year round). The most useful local ferry connection for tourists is the daily ferry from Split to Ubli (on the island of Lastovo) with a stop on Hvar (7 $) and in the village of Vela Luka on the island of Korcula (8 $). The ferry leaves Vela Luka in the morning, and from Split in the afternoon; the fare is half of the fare on the Rijeka-Dubrovnik route (this segment is the same length).

Travel south by ferry to Dubrovnik (8 time.) it is extremely picturesque. Communication

Airport – Bus to Split airport (4,50 $) departs from Obala Lazareta, 3,5 min on foot from the bus station. Buses are leaving 90 min before the departure of each plane. You can also get here by bus #37, as described in The Journey section (ticket for 2 zones).

Bus – Bus tickets are bought at city kiosks. To Trogir you need to buy a ticket on 3 zones, to the airport -on 2 zones, to Solin and Trstenik on 1. Tickets must be validated after boarding the bus. Bus tickets with an arrow at each end are valid on 2 journeys, for one course only one page is validated. You can also buy a ticket from the driver, but then it costs 2 times more expensive.

Car rental – Compare prices on Cobra Rent-a-Car (tel.356865) i ST Rent-a-Car (tel.46473), which are standing next to each other next to Obala Lazareta 3, in the city center. Budget at Obala hrvatskog Narodnog is also active in the city, Hertz (tel.585840) near the Coast of Prince Branimir 1 and Europcar (tel.362700) next to the bus station.
